Dominic Raab speaking at our Annual Dinner

Would you like to come to the North west Conservatives Annual Dinner in Peterborough on 17th May?  Our association has managed to secure  the Rt. Hon. Dominic Raab MP to speak at the dinner and we would like to invite members and supporters to join us.  The tickets for the evening are only £25.

Dominic is the MP for Esher and Walton and lives in Ditton Thames, Surrey with his wife Erika and 2 sons.  Born and raised in Bucks, he studied law at Oxford and for a Masters at Cambridge, and was then employed as an international lawyer at Linklaters, a law firm in the City.  In 2000 he joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and was later posted to The Hague.

Dom left the FCO in 2006, and worked for three years as Chief of Staff to respective Shadow Home and Justice Secretaries, advising in the House of Commons on crime, policing, immigration, counterterrorism, human rights and constitutional reform.

On May 6 2010, he was elected MP and in 2011 he was voted ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at The Spectator’s annual Parliamentarian of the Year Awards.

Between 2010 and 2015, he served on the Joint Committee on Human Rights and Education Select Committee. Dom was re-elected in 2015 with an increased majority and served as a Justice Minister in David Cameron’s government.

In 2016 he was elected by MPs to sit on Parliament’s Committee on Exiting the EU. On 9th June 2017, Dom was re-elected MP for Esher and Walton and was appointed Minister of State for Justice by Prime Minister Theresa May in June 2017, and The Minister of State for Housing in January 2018.

On 9 July 2018, Dom was appointed Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union. He resigned on 15 November 2018, for 2 reasons.

First, he could not support the proposed deal due to the regulatory regime proposed for Northern Ireland as it presented a very real threat to the integrity of the UK.

Second, he could not support an indefinite backstop arrangement, where the EU holds a veto our ability to exit.

The website Conservative Home polled Dom on 4th March as being second most likely leader after Boris Johnson in their Next Tory Leader Survey.

We really hope members and supporters in Fletton and Woodston would like to join us for what will be a fun and informative evening with Shailesh Vara MP, Elected Councillors and association officers also in attendance.

If you would like to come please contact me through this website.
